Fundraising

Pet-Tacular raises money in a variety of ways:

RENT A PET - in return for a minimum donation of £5 per month you will recieve a photo, adoption certificate, posting on this website and a regular monthly letter written personally to you "from" the pet you are sponsoring! See bottom of this page for more info!

DONATIONS - members of the public have been very generous to Pet-Tacular, some people leave a donation when they take a pet or sign one over to us and occasionally someone will turn up with a donation for us for no reason other than they wanted to help!.
We also collect outside shops and in pubs - if you own a pub or shop and would allow us to do a collection, please contact us with your details.

COLLECTION JARS - we have jars in and around Muir of Ord. If you can take a collection jar, please let us know - Thank You.

SMALL PET BOARDING - see page "BOARDING".

"RATBOOK" - this book tells you every thing you need to know about rats (fancy and wild) see bottom of page for more details.

SPONSORED EVENTS - If you have a fun idea that you would like to be sponsored for, let us know and we will provide you with support and sponsor forms, you may even end up in the local paper!

QUIZ NIGHTS -  We are currently looking for a new venue for our quiz nights, please let us know if you can help.

"RENT-A-PET"

The "Rent-a-pet" animals are those who for one reason or another are expected to live their whole lives at the rescue centre. This is usually because they are disabled in someway or have been at the centre so long they are settled. These animals are kept as pets in the rescue centre and get a few more treats and attention. You are welcome to visit "your" pet whenever you like.

Available to "rent" we have:

WENDY

Wendy is a 4 year old guinea-pig, she has been at Pet-Tacular for 3 years and was available to re-home until her companion died of old age 6 months ago. Since then she has become very close to Tina and it would be unfair to separate them.

LARSSON

Larsson is a 2 year old male rat, he has lived at Pet-Tacular most of his life because his owner  had a serious accident shortly after getting him. Larsson's owner likes to visit him and has asked that he is not re-homed.

RICHARD

Ricky (as he is known) has been at Pet-Tacular for 3 years (he came in aropund the same time as Wendy) He is at least 5 years old and due to his age, the length of time he's been here and the fact he knows and loves his routines we think he is best off living a happy retirement at Pet-Tacular.

"RATBOOK" HAS BEEN WRITTEN BY CATHRYN CASH, WHO STUDIED RODENT BEHAVIOUR IN DEPTH WHILST STUDYING AT BISHOP BURTON COLLEGE IN EAST YORKSHIRE.

IT COVERS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CARING FOR YOUR PET RAT AND HOW LIFE IN CAPTIVITY CAN BE LINKED TO THE WAY YOUR PET'S WILD COUSINS LIVE. IT ALSO TEACHES ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE DOMESTIC RAT AND GIVES HELPFUL HINTS ABOUT TRAINING YOUR RAT AND LOW COST AND FREE ITEMS WHICH CAN SAFELY BE GIVEN TO YOUR RAT AS TOY.

"RATBOOK" COSTS £5 - £2 GOES TO THE PRODUCTION OF THE BOOK (at the moment we have to pay 5p a page!) AND THE OTHER £3 IS A DONATION TO THE RESCUE CENTRE. IF YOUR BUSINESS IS ABLE TO PRINT A FEW COPIES FOR FREE (ALL YOU NEED IS A BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOCOPIER) PLEASE CONTACT US - YOU WILL GET SOME FREE ADVERTISING TOO!
